Prof. Lee pioneered the studies of mesoplasticity modelling and its applications in ultra-precision machining research. He is the former Head of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, founding Director of the Knowledge Management and Innovation Research Center, as well as the founding Head of the State Key Laboratory of Ultra-Precision Machining Technology of PolyU. His research interests include advanced manufacturing technology, manufacturing strategy and knowledge management. He contributed to the industrial development and technology advancement by nurturing talents in manufacturing engineering and enterprises for Hong Kong and the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region. Prof. Lee retired from the university in January 2018 as Emeritus Professor (Manufacturing Engineering).
