Ir Lai was the Former Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services. He contributed tremendously in the fields of the legislative enforcement of electrical safety, gas safety, as well as the promotion of efficient energy in Hong Kong. His earlier work in biomedical engineering provided not only substantial support to public hospitals, but also solid foundation for the subsequent development of biomedical engineering in the territory.
