Members Profiles - Mr Banting SZE Wai-pan

Mr Banting Sze Wai-pan founded Freetech Road Recycling Technology (Holdings) Limited in 1993, which is also known as the "Road Doctor". It is the only Hong Kong-based green road maintenance company listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. With branches in Nanjing, Beijing, Shanghai and in other regions of Mainland China, the company's business encompasses research and development, equipment manufacturing, contracting, material design, education and training. Being the primary inventor of over 300 national patents, Mr Sze has led his company to undertake major projects in over 30 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions in Mainland China, as well as in Southeast Asia. Utilising its hot-in-place recycling train and engineering technology, Freetech has completed projects that have achieved a reduction in carbon emissions of 1.5 million tons. Mr Sze's expertise has been widely recognised, receiving the Nanjing Science and Technology Achievement Award and being honoured as a Young to Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions in Jiangsu Province. He is also a member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's PPP Expert Committee, and a 13th Standing Committee Member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Mr Sze was an adjunct professor at PolyU, and is currently a member of the Departmental Advisory Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, providing unwavering support to the University.
