Mr Wu was President of Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, and is a Fellow of the Institution and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was a key officer in the Housing Department to formulate and implement the Home Ownership Scheme which had enabled lower income households in Hong Kong to own their own homes. As Director of Buildings, he implemented the revised enforcement strategy against unauthorized building works and took a major step forward in promotion of green buildings. He had led the Housing Society in fulfilling its mission of serving people of Hong Kong in provision of affordable housing and related services. He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2006 for his distinguished and dedicated service to the Government and the community. Mr Wu was also Chairman of Advisory Committee of PolyU Department of Building and Real Estate, making important contributions to the department's long-term development.
